#69 It's my try
This pixel is special. It's the first-ever piece I made entirely on my tablet with a pen. I wanted to start practicing it long ago, and I even tried... like a dozen times, but always stopped after a few lines. It's totally different from pixeling using the mouse. It's much easier to make long lines look good, and things like shading come much more naturally. But loss in precision is huge, and losing easy access to keybinds is slowing down the work a lot.
But in the end I did it. I expected it to come out much worse, even if Ide looks mighty undercooked. Now when I look back on it, I forgot about many details, I was so focused on just pixeling. But, it's just the first try, next will be better.
Also, funny thing. I was much less stressed about this. It was so chill sitting whenever I wanted. Slowly working. Didn't stress about quality too much. Normally, I don't consider pixeling as something I do to relax. I do enjoy it, but it's always an exercise. However, this time, I was actually just chilling. Maybe because of the change of mindset, perhaps the tablet is just a less stressful medium. We will see.

There won't be too much to learn from this one, folks.

Next time I should make the full sketch. But even like this, keeping the right proportions and shapes was surprisingly much easier (don't look too closely at this one, it's not finished yet, ok?).

Making eyes was strange. I already have muscle memory worked out, I was just staring at the face, wondering how I should even start. Overall it was kind of similar. I made the light orb (the iris in the middle). Later, the darker part around it, white on the left, some shine at the bottom, dark lashes, and done.

Yea, the eyes look totally different. Different sizes and shapes. Normally I can do one and still see the other, but my tablet is so small to work on the eye, I had to zoom only onto it. But this is a problem for future me.

This is much more reliable than just a colorful blob. Next time I will try to give Ide some more elaborate haircut, but it will do for now.

Basic but nice. I still don't know how to change Ides's haircut to make it more distinct.

Longer lines and shading are so much easier and look significantly better.

I want to experiment a little more with this. I feel like with a little practice I can finally start doing much more detailed hair.

Time to work on my nemesis... the clothing.

Yea, I made the bare minimum. Time was running out, and I was kinda tired, so just made it as simple as I could.

The hand was surprisingly hard. On PC I never had much problem with them, but so many little lines using a pen on a small tablet? It's sooo difficult to get it right.
So anyway. I can definitely do better. But it's a decent first try.
Don't be afraid to try new things. Yes, you might fail, but you will learn and experience. And later you will be able to say "hey, you remember when I tried doing that?? Yep, that was craaazy!!"
Sounds much better than not remembering this day at all, right?
