#65 The Venom

This is a bare minimum post. I was so close to just giving up and making another "break". But I know how hard it is to come back.

For the last week or so, I feel like I can't do anything. Like some invisible weight is put on my shoulders. Going to the kitchen to get something to drink suddenly becomes a journey not worth taking. How fcking lazy can I be, huh!? I should be rocking and kicking. Instead, I'm lying down in bed, not even reading or at least planning what I will do next!!! I'm not even tired. I don't want to rest, just lay down all day and wait... I don't even know for what. Just press the skip button on my life.

But at the same time, I feel like I'm running out of it: the time. Not even my time, just time to spend with people, time to do things, to have any impact on this world.

So if the quality is lacking even more than usual, I'm sorry. I wish I could say, I'm doing my best, but I'm barely doing anything...

This is another full-body training. Just placing Ide into a pose somebody else already created. It's blowing my mind how people can plan a drawing like this. The only thing left for me is hoping that after copying enough times, I will be able to start doing my own.

I tried many starting points. The most instinctive one is, of course, the head. But it didn't work out very well. I feel like I don't know head-to-body ratios to plan based on such a small and placed-right-on-top element.

So naturally, my second thought was legs. "Legs should be easy, they are just straight lines". Well, they weren't easy at all. Always too big and taking half of the pixel or too small and looking stupid.

So I decided that if starting from any of the edge elements doesn't work, I should start with the middle. Like hand and torso. I have no idea if it's the correct approach, or how real artists deal with it, I'm just reporting what I am doing.

I still can't grab this clothing thing. I'm doing something wrong, but what?

Yes. The head is too small. You are correct. And you want to know the secret? It's already the fixed version. At some point, Ide could have ended with a mouth at best.

This is a kind of unusual method of doing hair for me. Most of the time, I just do a green stain and then sculpt from it, but "planned" hair can look much better.

Looks decent, even if I had to cut off half of her leg.

Don't think too hard about the shadows here. They are totally random. I told you that it's the bare minimum pixel.

This type of boot is surprisingly easy to pixel. Just a white line, color, keep the general shape, and you will be fine.

Finished piece. I'm sorry if it's not as good as it should be. I want to become better, to make nice arts for people that deserve it, but I'm so damn lazy. At least you can be sure that you can do it. If my lazy ass is able to do something like that, I can't even imagine how awesome things you can create.

Somehow the weight seems a little lighter after writing all of this. Maybe venting helps a little.

So keep your finger for no more unplanned breaks, and see you on the next one.
